    Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

I earned my MBA at Wharton, with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurial management. I had the privilege to study leadership, management, and a host of other topics with some of the world's best minds on these topics.

I took courses in finance, leadership, organizational management, ethics, negotiations, statistics, linear programming, operations, marketing, entrepreneurial management, cost accounting, financial accounting, micro and macroeconomics, and more.

I enjoyed making friends with highly motivated, hard-working students from around the world. It was a life-changing and career-accelerating experience that I would happily do all over again.

There I spent a year studying modern Chinese history with the renowned Professor Jonathan Spence, a gifted storyteller and brilliant teacher who can turn stacks of dusty tomes locked away in libraries and government archives into stories that bring the remarkable history of China to life.

I also took courses in Chinese political economy, advanced Japanese conversation, macroeconomics, and microeconomics.

The conversations and people I met at the dining hall at the Hall of Graduate Studies was an equally enriching experience, and I met people I'm still in close touch with today, including my wife.

  • At Cornell I discovered my passion for learning, learned how to write well, and somehow fell in love with the culture, history, and beautiful languages of China and Japan.

I studied hard and excelled in my classes (cum laude, distinction in all subjects, Dean's list 7 consecutive semesters).

I also played hard. I learned to ski, made a lot of friends, and took advantage of the idyllic campus and its beautiful surroundings.

I spent two full summers at Cornell studying intensive Chinese and Japanese and fished for trout and hiked in the woods in-between attending day-long classes and listening to tape recordings of conversations in those languages.

One of the greatest rewards at the end of a long and tiring semester was to buy a gallon or two of freshly pressed apple cider that was made from apples grown in the orchards that Cornell managed right near campus.

We have hired an outstanding faculty with degrees from top universities, and the facilities are truly top-notch. We have more 3D printers and advanced robotics facilities than many universities in the US. We just completed construction of a state-of-the-art--and architecturally stunning-- "Tech Cube" building that will vastly expand our capacity to educate students in STEM-related subjects.
